Just as you can have a credit freeze put on your credit, preventing people from fraudulently opening credit in your name, you should be able to have a deed freeze preventing people from being able to deed your house into their name.

It’s an easy fix. Go file a deed to yourself putting it back in your name. Same ploy the crook did.

On a visit to Italy I learned from a travel guide about what she termed was a severe problem in that country with "adverse possession'' and "squatters rights.'' According to her she was afraid to be away from her home for more than a few weeks because squatting was rampant. And once someone started living in your home they had certain rights and it could take a lot of money and time to get your home back. Apparently this was especially a problem with people who owned vacation homes in Italy that were not occupied year-round.

Prosecutors have said "You can indict a ham sandwich."   So you can record a deed to a ham sandwich.  The deed office will  be happy to accept the filing fee and they will record the deed.

Seems like just my signature on the canceled check that paid my real estate taxes would be proof of my ownership. Lets see scumbag's signature on a tax check. Case closed!
